An Idyllic Paradise at Formentera
Formentera is one of the smaller
islands of Balearic Islands. This island is only 90 square kilometers
with 5200 inhabitants; it is situated 11 miles off Ibiza on its south
east. It forms the Pitiusas of the Balearic Islands with
Ibiza.
Being small, one can view the sea from any part of
Formentera; numerous lovely beaches and tranquil bays with incredible
grottos can be found.
Mediterranean Paradise
Formentera
entices tourists with its pleasant climate all year through; its
springtime temperatures throughout the year are conducive for growing
many types of vegetation that include pines and palms. The quiet
ambience of Formentera makes it a most relaxing paradise.
An

The locals extend their unusual hospitality to the tourists easily to
make Formentera one of the preferred vacation spots in Spain. Palma

Getting
to Formentera
Formentera is best accessed by ferry which
regularly departs from Ibiza. One can also consider departing from
Saint Antoní harbor, Santa Eulalia or Platja d’en Bossa depending
on one’s location and preference.
The ferry takes only 25
minutes if it is a speed ferry while normal ferries take an hour to
reach Formentera. When the tourists reach Formentera port, there
would be waiting buses to transit the tourists to various spots on
Formentera. These include La Savina, La Mola and San
Francisco.
Sightseeing at Formentera
On arrival to
Formentera, one would already be enchanted by the lovely white
beaches all around the island. There are several quaint villages on
Formentera with one town hall.
La Savina proves to be the
island’s only port with some typical Mediterranean white-washed
houses while Las Salinas offers natural landscapes of unique beauty
at the island’s narrowest portion.
Further into the island
one would find Sant Fracesc Xavier which showcases whitewashed houses
surrounding a fortified ancient church. San Fernando lies at the end
of Es Pujols beach with large pine woods at the north and Mitjorn
beach at the south.
Most tourists to Formentera make a
beeline to the many lovely beaches on the island such as Cala Saona
which is considered the best beach on the island, costa

It is possible to travel up to La Mola
at the south east to enjoy the great panorama at 193 meters above the
sea level. One can view the beautiful landscapes surrounding El
Mirador while taking the opportunity to visit the village and
beautiful Iglesia del Pilar church.
